Jannik Sinner denied Carlos Alcaraz a third straight Wimbledon title by defeating the Spaniard 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 for his first title on grass courts of SW19, Afrosport reports.
Alcaraz was the favourite for the final having beaten Sinner in the last five head-to-head meetings, including the French Open back in May.
The Spaniard’s serve was broken in the fifth game of the first set but bounced back to break Sinner in the eighth and 10th game to take the set in 45 minutes.
Sinner was quick off the blocks in the second set as he broke Alcaraz in the very first game and never looked back as he leveled the match in 49 minutes.
The Italian broke again in the third set as Alcaraz tried to level the set at 5-5, and was broken again in the third game of the fourth set, ultimately seeing the match out in three hours and six minutes.

The victory was Sinner’s fourth Grand Slam triumph having lifted the Australian Open twice and the US Open once.
It also strengthens his grip at the top of the ATP World Rankings with 2000 valuable points.
