Kei Kamara scored in extra time as Los Angeles FC won the U.S. Open Cup for the first time with a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.
Former AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud put LAFC in front in the 53rd minute before Erik Thommy tied the match on the hour mark for Kansas City.
The game was forced into extra time after it ended 1-1 in regular time and Mexican defender and substitute Omar Campos put LAFC ahead in the 102nd minute for his first goal for the club.
Kamara, who came on for Lewis O’brien in extra time, put the game beyond doubt with a headed effort in the 109th minute.
The Sierra Leone international, who is the second-highest goalscorer in Major League Soccer (MLS) history, has now scored eight goals and provided three assists in 32 competitive games this season.
