Newcastle United have reportedly submitted a new bid worth €80 million plus add-ons for RB Leipzig for striker Benjamin Sesko, Afrosport reports.
Newcastle initially offered a deal worth €75 million, with an additional €5 million in bonuses, but was rejected by the German Bundesliga club.
Leipzig have set a fee in the region of €90 million for Sesko, and it is yet to be seen if the new bid from the Magpies will now be accepted.
The 22-year-old Slovenian has scored 39 competitive goals in 87 appearances since joining from sister team RB Salzburg in 2023.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are expected to make a formal offer for Sesko, having been in talks with Leipzig over the transfer fee.
United’s pursuit of the Slovenian striker throws into question Rasmus Hojlund’s future at Old Trafford, with the club listening to suitable offers for the striker.
According to Sky Sports, Leipzig are interested in Hojlund and have explored the conditions of a loan as part of any possible deal for Sesko.
Hojlund has scored 26 goals in 95 games for the Red Devils since he joined from Atalanta also in 2023.
