Serie A: Lookman scores as Atalanta beat Parma, AC Milan share spoils with Juventus

Ademola Lookman scored as he inspired Atalanta to a 3-1 victory over Parma which temporarily sent them top of the Italian Serie A on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

Mateo Retegui put La Dea in front in the fourth minute before African Player of the Year nominee Lookman doubled it five minutes later but it was ruled out for offside by VAR.

Brazilian midfielder Ederson made it 2-0 six minutes to the end of the first half before Lookman finally registered his name on the scoresheet in the 75th minute for his seventh league goal and 10th in all competitions.

Meanwhile, AC Milan was forced to a goalless draw by Juventus at the San Siro. The two Italian powerhouses failed to carve out goal-scoring chances in the first half, with Juventus center-back Federico Gatti getting the only shot on target in a cagey half.

The Bianconeri, playing without an out-and-out forward due to injuries to Dusan Vlahovic and Arek Milik, deployed Teun Koopmeiners as the false 9, and the tactical change ensured Thiago Motta’s side had more possession but failed to create anything meaningful in the final third.

Despite the introduction of Christian Pulisic and Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze, the hosts failed to muster any clear-cut chance after 90 minutes as the share of the spoils was the best result for both sides.

In the other fixture, Marcus Thuram scored a brace as Inter Milan hammered Verona 5-0 at the Stadio Bentegodi.
