Serie A: Chukwueze scores winner as two late goals help AC Milan beat Parma

Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze scored the winner as AC Milan scored twice in stoppage time to seal a 3-2 comeback win over Parma at the San Siro in Sunday’s Serie A action, Afrosport reports.

Chukwueze scored in the 95th minute, his second league goal of the season, to hand Milan the win and move them into sixth in the Serie A standings.

Parma got off to a good start with Italian Matteo Cancellieri breaking the deadlock for the visitors with his third league goal of the season. The 22-year-old profited off a slip from Milan’s Theo Hernandez before gathering the ball and hitting a curling effort past Mike Maignan and into the bottom corner.

Milan, however, drew level in the 38th minute thanks to a penalty from American forward Christian Pulisic. Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki was penalised for pushing Strahinja Pavlovic from behind, and Pulisic stepped up to convert the resulting spot-kick, firing the ball into the bottom corner.

Tijjani Reijnders came close to completing the turnaround for Milan, but his low strike from inside the box in the 42nd minute was thwarted by Suzuki.

The second half was a huge contrast from the opening period, with both teams finding it tough to create any meaningful chances, but Parma again drew first blood, with captain Enrico Del Prato restoring his side’s lead ten minutes from regulation time.

Pavlovic thought he had drawn Milan level in the 89th minute, but his headed effort was chalked off due to an offside in the buildup.

The Rossoneri, however, would not be denied their equaliser as Reijnders drew the hosts level in the 92nd minute with his sixth league goal of the season. The Dutch midfielder crept in behind the Parma defence, latching on to a through ball from Yunus Musah before beating Suzuki at his near post.

Milan got the deserved winner three minutes later as Chukwueze inadvertently turned in Pavlovic’s header with his knee for his first Serie A goal since October 2024.

Sergio Conceicao’s Milan bounced back from last week’s defeat at Juventus and is now just five points off the top four, while Parma, winless in four games, sit 17th in Serie A with 20 points, one point off the relegation zone.
