Sergio Conceicao set to become new Al Ittihad head coach

Sergio Conceicao is set to be appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League giants Al Ittihad with a contract until June 2027, Afrosport reports.

The 50-year-old Portuguese tactician will replace Laurent Blanc, who was dismissed after a 2-0 defeat to Al Nassr in late September.

Conceicao was previously with Italian Serie A side AC Milan and will be appointed along with his coaching staff, including assistants Joao Costa, Siramana Dembele, and Fabio Moura, goalkeeping coaches Diamantino Figueiredo and Vedran Runje, and performance analyst Eduardo Oliveira.

Al Ittihad will be his eighth club having previously managed Olhanense, Academica, Braga, Vitoria Guimaraes, Nantes and FC Porto. He is also the father of Juventus and Portugal winger Francisco Conceicao, manging him during his time at Porto.

Al Ittihad are currently third in the Saudi Pro League, three points behind leaders Al Nassr.
