Moussa Niakhate is confident Nottingham Forest will achieve Premier League survival even as they suffered yet another defeat that has kept them locked in the relegation zone.
Steve Cooper’s men were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at the City Ground on Sunday to remain in 18th place on the table with 27 points, the same as Everton in 17th place.
Forest are on a three-game losing streak and they are winless in their last 10 league games (D3 L7) with seven games left to end the season. Niakhate acknowledges playing Man United was a tough task but does not want his team to relent in their push to avoid relegation.
“We came up against a really good team with a good squad of players and a good coach,” The Senegal international said on the club website.
“We knew it would be a tough game and we tried our best defensively, but they have some good players in the likes of (Anthony) Martial, Antony, (Bruno) Fernandes and (Jadon) Sancho. We also have quality, but it wasn’t to be.
“We are all trying our best to win games. We will not give up, but we have to do more. We have to keep going, we have seven games left and they are like seven finals.
“It’s difficult as the end of the season is getting closer, but I am 100% convinced we will achieve our goals with this squad.
“We trust in each other and we now get to work straight away on Liverpool.”
