Senegal beat Sierra Leone at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Complex in Liberia to win the 2025 under-20 WAFU A qualifying Championship.
With the victory, the Young Teranga Lions earned themselves a spot in the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) along with clinching the regional title.

The Senegalese team led by Serigne Saliou Dia, who also led the West African nation to triumph at the U17 AFCON, took the lead in the 13th minute courtesy of a sublime finish from Cheikh Tidiane Thiam.
Ten minutes later, Ibrahima Dieng doubled the Young Lionsβ lead with an outrageous long-range effort. The youngster lobbed the Sierra Leonean goalkeeper from near the halfway line.
Although Sierra Leone tried to put up a fight, Senegal held on for the rest of the game with resolute defending to win the final and clinch their second consecutive WAFU A title.
The win helped Senegal secure a spot in the 2025 U20 AFCON alongside Sierra Leone, who secured a berth at the continental youth tournament as the finalist of the regional qualifying tournament.
