Semenyo scores twice as Bournemouth move up to second

Pereira: Arokodare and Larsen not ready to start together for Wolves

Antoine Semenyo scored a brace for the second time in the Premier League this season as Bournemouth came from behind to defeat Fulham 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Friday, Afrosport reports.

After more than an hour of goalless action on the south coast, the Cottagers took the lead in the 70th minute when Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze’s pass found Ryan Sessegnon to cooly finish off.

That lead only lasted eight minutes as Bournemouth were level after Semenyo placed the ball between the legs of Bernd Leno into the back of the net.

The Ghanaian forward then assisted Justin Kluivert’s powerful 25 yard strike in the 84th minute before completing his brace in added time with a clinical finish off an assist from Ben Doak.

It was the second time Semenyo scored a brace this season having done so in the 4-2 loss at Liverpool on the opening weekend.

It also took him to six goals and three assists in seven games to make him Bournemouth’s outright top scorer. He has also been involved in 12 goals (eight goals, four assists) since May, the most by any player in the league.

The victory temporarily took the Cherries up to second on the table, making it the first time they have reached such a position in the league.

Semenyo will now turn his attention to Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Central African Republic and Comoros.
