New Galatasaray signing Sane eyes Champions League success with Osimhen

New Galatasaray signing Leroy Sane has set his sights on achieving success in this season’s UEFA Champions League, Afrosport reports.

The German international of Senegalese heritage joined Gala from Bayern Munich, while Osimhen signed on a permanent transfer from Napoli following last season’s successful loan spell.

Sane scored his first goal for the club by netting the third goal in Sunday’s 4-0 win at Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig, while Osimhen netted the final goal to open his season account.

The Istanbul giants have now averaged scoring three goals in their opening three games of the season, keeping clean sheets in all of them, with Sane hoping to see them maintain momentum.

“Victor also scored his first goal and is a very good player. We’re gaining momentum. We have very good strikers,” the former Manchester City player said.

“They’re both incredibly hungry to score, possess incredible quality, and are truly experienced. That’s great for the team, but we also need to gain momentum. We’re getting to know each other over time and are striving for perfection.

“The Champions League is very important for the club. We want to be successful there. We need to do very well in training and in matches. We need to earn as many points as possible.”

Galatasaray gained automatic qualification into the league phase of this season’s Champions League after winning a record-extending 25th league title last season, which saw Osimhen score 26 goals and finish as top scorer, a record for a foreign player in his first season in the Turkish top flight.
