William Saliba has expressed his dream of winning the UEFA Champions League with Arsenal, Afrosport reports.
The Gunners are out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup and are 15 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League.
This leaves the Champions League as their only realistic chance of silverware this season, and they already have one foot in the quarter-finals are defeating PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the round of 16 first leg.
Speaking ahead of the second leg at the Emirates Stadium, Saliba believes Arsenal can go all the way and reach only their second-ever final.
“If we don’t believe or if we don’t dream to win the Champions League, there is no point to play,” the French centre-back said.
“We are here. This is under the new format. It was not easy to be qualified. Now we won the first game, tomorrow we have the chance to win again and to be qualified and after, there is, yeah, four games before the final. We can do it, we all believe that we can do it. And we have to work and pray as well.”
He added: “Everyone wants to win the Champions League because this competition is a competition that you watch when you are young and you want to win. And we know that the competition is really hard to win. So, we’ll give everything and anything can happen.”
“And I think we are close. We are very close. We will keep going. We don’t have to stop working. When you are close like this, of course, when you don’t win trophies, it’s sad. But we have to keep going because with the work will [help towards] the big step, I’m really sure that we will arrive there.”
