Mohamed Salah continued his top form on the opening weekend of the Premier League season after providing an assist in Liverpool’s 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds were looking to make a fresh start after missing out on the top four last season with a fifth place finish while the Blues ended in a dismal 12th and began new life under former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Salah’s sublime pass found Luis Diaz who slid the ball beyond the reach of new Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Salah’s assist took his tally to 12 goal involvements (eight goals, four assists) in seven season-opening appearances in the Premier League.

Salah thought he had scored his fifth consecutive goal on the opening weekend in the 29th minute but he was denied as it was ruled out for offside.
Chelsea equalised in the 37th minute courtesy of new signing Axel Disasi.
The result was the fifth consecutive Premier League draw between Chelsea and Liverpool which stretches back to the 2021-22 season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will host Bournemouth next at Anfield while Pochettino will embark on his first London derby as Chelsea boss whey they make a trip across town to face West Ham United.
