Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has ended the 2024-25 Premier League season in style, claiming both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards, Afrosport reports.
Salah ended this campaign with 29 league goals, the most of any player in the English top flight. He secured his fourth Golden Boot award in the Premier League, equalling former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry’s record.
The 32-year-old, who scored Liverpool’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday, scored six goals more than Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak (23), who finished second, while Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (22), Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Chris Wood of Nottingham Forest (both 20) completed the top five.
His goal against Palace equalled Alan Shearer (1994/95) and Andrew Cole (1993/94) for the most goal involvements (47) in a single season in the top flight.
The Egypt international also scooped up the Playmaker award with his league-high 18 assists, six more than Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy (12).
This marked the second time that Salah has won both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards in the same campaign, having achieved the feat in the 2021/22 season, when he scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists.
Salah, meanwhile, becomes the first player in Premier League history to win the Golden Boot as well as Playmaker and Player of the Season awards in the same campaign.
He was named the Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday, joining the quartet of Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, and Kevin De Bruyne as the only players to win the award in two different seasons.
