Salah praises Liverpool’s never-say-die attitude in win over Burnley

2025 Ballon d’Or: Who are the favourites to be crowned best player in the world?

Mohamed Salah praised the never-say-die attitude of Liverpool after they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

After struggling to break the Clarets’ backline that were reduced to 10 men after Lesly Ugochukwu was given two yellow cards, the reigning champions finally broke the deadlock thanks to the Egyptian superstar from the penalty spot deep in added time to maintain their 100% start to the season.

It was Salah’s second goal of the season after netting in the 4-2 season-opening win at home to Bournemouth.

Reflecting on the nervy game at Turf Moor, the 33-year-old said: “It’s a tough opponent today,” he said.

“We tried our best to play the ball between the lines, but it’s tough to win. I’m glad that in the end we managed to win the game.

“The players are adapting to our system. We had a few new players in the starting line-up. It takes time to adapt their game to our game.

“We try to make them comfortable in a game. Alex [Isak] also came last week and he’s going to be in the team. We try to find the balance.

“We don’t give up. We just try to push ourselves and our team to the limit.”

Salah’s goal was also his 188th in the Premier League, taking him one strike above Andy Cole to fourth on the all-time goalscorers list behind Alan Shearer (260 goals), Harry Kane (213 goals) and Wayne Rooney (208 goals).
