Saka to miss England’s friendly with Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bukayo Saka: Driving England’s World Cup success after Iran masterclass

England coach Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka will miss the Three Lions’ friendly with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday.

He was part of the 26 players that trained on Sunday but Southgate said the 22-year-old will be rested.

The 22-year-old is expected to make a return to the squad when England take on Iceland on Friday in their final warm up game for the 2024 European championship where they will play Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in Group C.

Saka played 35 Premier League games for Arsenal in the just concluded season where Arsenal finished second, scoring 16 goals and registering nine assists.

John Stones, Kobbie Mainoo, Kyle Walker and Phil Foden will also miss the game.

According to reports, Stones reported a bit late to camp while Mainoo, Walker and Foden are yet to link up with the rest of the squad after last weekend’s FA Cup final.

Jude Bellingham who took part in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final is also expected to arrive late.
