Ruud van Nistelrooy has bid Manchester United fans farewell after exiting the club on Monday following the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim, Afrosport reports.
Van Nistelrooy, who returned to the club this year as assistant manager to Erik ten Hag, took over in an interim role following the sacking of his Dutch compatriot last month.
The 48-year-old enjoyed an impressive stint with the Red Devils, with three wins and a draw in four games, including a 3-0 win against Leicester City at Old Trafford last Sunday.
Van Nistelrooy, however, along with three other coaches, departed United earlier this week, with Amorim expected to appoint his own backroom staff.
The Dutchman, who exited United 18 years after his first departure, has thanked everyone associated with the club for their support following his short time at Old Trafford.
A message on his social media read: “To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and the fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support.
“It has been a privilege and honour to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together.

Van Nistelrooy enjoyed a successful time as a player with United, scoring 150 goals in 219 appearances following his move from PSV Eindhoven in 2001. He, however, left the club for Real Madrid in 2006, having won the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.
Meanwhile, Amorim, who officially resumed as United’s new boss on November 11, will lead the team to Portman Road to take on Ipswich Town after the international break in his first game in charge.
United are currently 13th in the Premier League standings after a disappointing start to the season but are only four points off the top four.
They also sit 15th in the Europa League standings with six points after four matches and are just three points off eighth, the final automatic qualification slot.
