Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior were in attendance alongside a host of past and present football stars, managers, and experts at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards held in Dubai on Friday, Afrosport reports.
The Globe Soccer Awards, which celebrates outstanding performances in football over the past year, held its 15th annual gala in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, with players, managers, and clubs receiving accolades across various categories.
Ronaldo was named the Best Middle Eastern Player as the Portuguese added another accolade to his long list of awards. The Al-Nassr forward also got a special recognition as the official highest goal scorer of all-time, having become the first player in history to surpass the 900-career goal mark.

Vinicius, however, won the biggest prizes at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards, taking home the Best Men’s Player and Best Forward of the Year awards, further adding to his list of accolades this year.
England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was voted the Best Midfielder of the Year and also won the Maradona Award, while Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was named the Best Emerging Talent.

Spanish champions Real Madrid scooped the Best Men’s Club award; Carlo Ancelotti was voted Best coach; Spain international Aitana Bonmati completed a sweep this year, winning the Best Women’s Player Award, while Barcelona Femeni won the Best Women’s Club award.
The winners were decided by votes from a fan poll and a selected jury. The fan poll closes on 25 November, while the jury vote, which began three days later, ended on 10 December.
Other notable awardees at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards include Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who was specially recognized as the “The greatest president of all time”. Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Alessandro Del Piero, Neymar and Thibaut Courtois all received special recognition awards.
