Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has successfully undergone surgery to repair a niggling shoulder injury, Afrosport reports.
Bellingham first picked up the injury in November 2023 after dislocating his right shoulder in a match against Rayo Vallecano.
The 22-year-old has since worn a strap on his shoulder and is expected to be out for around 12 weeks following the surgery. This means he will miss the whole of Madrid’s preseason as well as the first six weeks of the new season.
A statement from the club read: “Our player Jude Bellingham has undergone successful surgery today to address recurrent dislocation of his left shoulder.
“The operation was carried out by doctors Manuel Leyes and Andrew Wallace, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services.”
Bellingham will “undergo a period of rehabilitation” before returning to training, the statement from Madrid added.

He joined Los Blancos in a £115 million deal from Borussia Dortmund in June 2023, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions as he led them to La Liga and Champions League triumph in his first season.
His numbers went down last season as Real Madrid lost the league title to Barcelona and were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal. He, however, managed 15 goals and 15 assists in 58 games.
Bellingham recently featured for Madrid at the Club World Cup in the United States, where they were knocked out in the semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, face Osasuna at home on 19 August in their first game of the season and first La Liga game under new boss Xabi Alonso.
