Premier League reveals changes to transfer window ahead of Club World Cup

Premier League: How betting companies dominate shirt sponsorships for 2024/25 season

Premier League clubs on Thursday agreed on new dates for the 2025 summer transfer window ahead of next season, Afrosport reports.

Following a shareholders’ meeting held in central London, the clubs agreed that the summer window will be held in two folds.

The window will now open earlier than usual, with the first phase set for Sunday, 1 June, to Tuesday, 10 June, due to the exceptional registration period for the newly expanded Club World Cup, which has Manchester City and Chelsea as representatives of the Premier League.

It will, however, open again on Monday, 16 June, with the deadline set for Monday, 1 September 2025, which is within the maximum 89-day rule for the transfer window set by the world football governing body, FIFA.

The remaining 18 Premier League clubs also have the opportunity to sell or purchase players during these two windows.

The new Club World Cup, which features 32 teams, is scheduled to begin in the United States on 14 June, with the final slated for 13 July.

The tournament, which will now take place every four years, has a $1 billion total prize pool, with the winner to receive a whopping $125 million from FIFA.

12 stadiums across the United States will host the Club World Cup, held across 11 cities and 10 states, with the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to host the opening game.
