The African trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa, and Antoine Semenyo were all on the scoresheet across the Premier League’s matchday three actions on Saturday.
The duo of Mbeumo and Wissa scored all the goals as Brentford claimed a 3-1 win over Southampton at the Gtech Community Stadium. The Cameroon and DR Congo internationals helped the Bees secure their second win in the Premier League this campaign.
Meanwhile, Ghanaian forward Semenyo scored the first goal for Bournemouth in their dramatic 3-2 comeback win at Everton. England’s Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin put the Toffees in front at Goodison Park, but a flurry of goals from the Cherries’ trio of Semenyo, Lewis Cook, and Luis Sinisterra ensured they recorded their first win of the season and heaped more misery on Everton, who are yet to get a point this season.

Elsewhere, in Saturday’s early kickoff, 10-man Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Brighton & Hove Albion, with the result ending the two sides perfect record.
Kai Havertz gave Mikel Arteta’s men the lead with a composed finish in the 38th minute after being set up by Bukayo Saka. However, after Declan Rice was shown a red card in the 49th minute for the first time in his career, Brighton took advantage of the numerical advantage to level scoring as Brazilian forward Joao Pedro scored from a rebound for his second goal of the season.
At West Ham United’s London Stadium, Premier League champions Manchester City maintained their 100 percent start to the season with a comfortable 3-1 victory over the Hammers.
Erling Haaland scored a hat trick for the second week running despite Ruben Dias own goal as Pep Guardiola’s side moved to the top of the table.
Newcomers Ipswich Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Portman Road after Liam Delap’s opener for the Tractor Boys in the 15th minute was cancelled out by Adama Traore’s 32nd minute strike.
Nigeria international Calvin Bassey played all 90 minutes for the Cottagers, while his international teammate, Alex Iwobi, was taken off in the 87th minute.
At the King Power Stadium, Leicester City suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa thanks to goals from Amadou Onana and Jhon Duran with Facundo Buonanotte, who was assisted by Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi, drawing one back for the Foxes in their second defeat of the season.
Meanwhile, at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest were forced to a 1-1 draw by the visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers. Chris Wood opened the scoring for the hosts in the 10th minute, but the lead barely lasted as Jean-Ricner Bellegarde restored parity two minutes later.
The matchday will come to an end on Sunday, but action continues as Chelsea will battle Crystal Palace in a London derby, Newcastle United plays host to Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United will host Liverpool at Old Trafford in the peak of the season.
