Premier League: Justin Kluivert joins elite list with hat-trick in Bournemouth win over Newcastle

Justin Kluivert was the star of the show as he scored a hat-trick in Bournemouth’s 4-1 win away at Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, Afrosport reports.

The Cherries put the Magpies under intense pressure from kick off and went ahead in the sixth minute when Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo set up Kluivert.

Though Newcastle pulled one back through captain Bruno Guimaraes in the 25th minute, Bournemouth were back ahead in the 44th minute when Burkina Faso foward Dango Ouattara set up Kluivert.

Andoni Iraola’s men were in control at St. James’ Park for the entire second half and added more goals in added time with Kluivert completing his hat-trick before he assisted Milos Kerkez for the fourth goal.

Kluivert’s hat-trick was his second of the season having done so in a 4-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in November. He became the seventh player to  score two Premier League away hat-tricks in a season after Ian Wright, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Luis Suarez, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.

The 25-year-old is also the 20th Dutch player to score a Premier League hat-trick and the fourth to score more than one after Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Robin van Persie.

It was also took the former Ajax player’s tally to eight away goals in the league this season which is only second to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Justin’s hat-trick also meant he scored more goals at St. James Park than his father Patrick Kluivert who played for Newcastle during the 2004-05 season.

Reacting to that feat, Justin Kluivert said: “I heard I had more goals than him [Patrick] here already, so that is one win over him

“It’s nice to come here. I followed Newcastle when I was younger. Unfortunately for them, Kluivert now plays for another team.”

Kluivert now has 10 Premier League goals this seasons coupled with three assists in 21 games which puts him at the top of Bournemouth’s scoring charts.
