Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been suspended for three matches with an additional £55,000 fine for receiving a red card in their 2-2 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League last month, Afrosport reports.
The Portuguese admitted to using improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards an official, and an independent regulatory commission has imposed the touchline ban on the 50-year-old which will see him miss Forest’s games against Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and West Ham United.
Meanwhile, midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who was shown a red card in the tie at the Amex Stadium, also earned a one-match suspension and a £20,000 fine by an independent regulatory commission for his conduct.
Furthermore, Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler avoided a touchline ban but has been handed a £8,000 fine for misconduct after he encroached the field to protest against Gibbs-White’s challenge on Joao Pedro.
A statement from the Football Association read: “Nuno Espirito Santo, Morgan Gibbs-White and Fabian Hurzeler admitted to their respective charges. The independent Regulatory Commission imposed a two-match touchline suspension and £55,000 ($71,753) fine on the Nottingham Forest head coach, which activated a further one-match touchline ban that had been suspended.”
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest say they will appeal a five-match stadium ban handed to its owner Evangelos Marinakis for improper behaviour in a loss against Fulham in September.
Forest will host Palace at the City Ground on Monday, while the Seagulls will head to the St. James Park to take o Newcastle United in matchday eight in the Premier League.
