DR Congo international Yoane Wissa has been awarded Brentford’s second goal in their 4-3 win against Ipswich Town at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
The goal was initially awarded as an own goal for Ipswich defender Harry Clarke, who was eventually sent off in the 69th minute. However, Brentford decided to appeal the decision after the match.
The Bees’ appeal resulted in a review from the Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Appeals Panel, and the three football experts on the panel confirmed the goal was scored by Wissa.
It means the 28-year-old Congolese forward bagged a brace in the game, having previously scored in the 44th minute as the Bees clinched their fourth home win of the season.

This new development takes Wissa’s goal tally for the season to five league goals in six matches, and the assist has been awarded to Danish midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, taking his tally to four for the season.
It also means Ipswich’s Clarke can breathe a sigh of relief as he stays clear of becoming the second player in history to score an own goal, concede a penalty, and be sent off in the same Premier League match.
Brentford are ninth in the Premier League standings with 13 points after nine games and will play Fulham next Monday at Craven Cottage in matchday 10.
