Portuguese Coach Jose Gomes has announced his departure from Egyptian club Zamalek after about 10 months, Afrosport reports.
Gomes, who was appointed as Zamalek coach in February, enjoyed success with the club, leading them to triumph in the CAF Confederarion Cup and Super Cup.
His departure comes as a shock to many Zamalek fans, as his current contract with the White Knights doesn’t expire until the summer of the 2025.
Gomes, however, will head to Saudi Arabia, where he is set to takeover as manager of Al Fateh, with a reported monthly pay of around USD 250,000.
Zamalek, now in search of a new coach, are second in the Egyptian Premier League, and are in action this weekend in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they zit atop Group D after two matches, and are up against Al Masry on Sunday, 15 December.
Al Fateh, on the other hand, occupy the bottom spot in the Saudi Pro League with six points from their opening 13 games.
