Gambian forward Yakuba Minteh was on the scoresheet as Brighton and Hove Albion secured a successful comeback win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.
The 20-year-old scored in the 48th minute to reduce the deficit after the Seagulls had gone 2-0 down to the visitors in the first half.

Spurs came into the game of the back of five straight wins in all competitions, including their 3-0 thrashing of Manchester United at Old Trafford last week. They showed their intent early on as the in-form Brennan Johnson broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute with a sublime left-footed finish from inside the box after he was played in by Dominic Solanke.
Ange Postecoglou’s men doubled their lead 14 minutes later through James Maddison, whose strike from the edge of the box was fumbled by Belgian goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
Minteh got Brighton back into the game three minutes into the second half restart with his first goal of the season. The former Newcastle man benefitted from an error from Destiny Udogie before firing the ball into the bottom corner.
The Seagulls cancelled Tottenham’s lead through summer signing Georginio Rutter, who beat both Udogie and Micky Van de Ven, before finishing past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Fabian Hürzeler’s men completed the turnaround with 33-year-old former Arsenal and Man Utd forward Danny Welbeck scoring the winner in the 90th minute. After some good work down the right, Rutter beat Udogie before sliding a cross into Spurs’ box where Welbeck was waiting unmarked and the forward headed the ball into an empty net.
The win was Brighton’s third of the season as they moved into sixth place with 12 points, while Spurs lost their third league game of the season and are in the ninth place in the league standings.
The Seagulls will head to St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle United on October 19, while Tottenham will host West Ham United in North London on the same day.
