Mohamed Salah was among the goals as Liverpool annihilated eternal rivals Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield on Sunday.
The Egyptian forward made history by becoming Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League and the first player in the club’s history to score in six straight games against the Red Devils.

The 30-year-old got his first of the game in the 66th minute as his right footed shot went in under the crossbar to put him level with Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler. He went on to break the former striker’s record in the Premier League with his brace to take his tally to 129.
The former Basel forward has now scored 12 goals against United, making him the highest goalscorer in the history of the Northwest Derby.
Liverpool started the game on the front foot with most of the possession in the first 25 minutes. However, United responded with controlled possession of theirs but Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford failed to convert two important chances for the 20-time English champions.
Erik Ten Hag’s side got on the scoresheet through Brazilian midfielder Casemiro but his header was ruled offside. One minute later, Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, who had been by United throughout the transfer window, put Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead with a well-taken goal in the 43rd minute.
The second half was a different experience as Liverpool began their rout of the Red Devils as Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez headed home the second for Klopp’s men. Gakpo made it three shortly after with a fine finish past David Degea.
A brace from Salah, either side of a deft header from Nunez, his second of the game, helped the Reds to a comfortable 6 goal lead before Roberto Firmino, who announced he would be leaving the Anfield outfit at the end of the season, added his after a short cameo to make it seven.
The match was United’s joint-biggest defeat following 7-0 losses to Wolves in December 1931, Aston Villa in December 1930 and Blackburn Rovers in April 1926.
It was also Liverpool’s biggest ever win against Manchester United, breaking their previous record of 7-1 set in October 1895.
The 2019-20 Premier League winners will turn their attention to relegation battling Bournemouth when they visit the Vitality Stadium next weekend, while United will look to bounce back from their shameful defeat when they face Spanish side Real Betis in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday at Old Trafford.
