Liverpool rounded off Sunday’s round of matches in the Premier League with a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in their trip to the Emirates Stadium, Afrosport reports.
Bukayo Saka was back in action and back among the goals as the English forward put the Gunners ahead in the ninth minute as Mikel Arteta’s men were looking to bounce back from last weekend’s loss at Bournemouth.
The visitors, however, drew level ten minutes later through captain Virgil van Dijk, who rose highest to head home an initial flick from Luis Diaz. Arsenal got in front once again, this time from Spain international Mikel Merino, who powered home a header from Declan Rice’s set-piece and past goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the 43rd minute.
With time running out, Liverpool drew level again with Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah combining for the Reds. Nunez latched onto a pass from Alexander Trent Arnold before playing in Salah, who finished past David Raya for his sixth goal of the season.
Arne Slot’s side dropped into second place in the Premier League standings with 22 points, one behind leaders Manchester City, while Arsenal remain in third place with 18 points.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea recorded a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer either side of an Alexander Isak strike for the visitors.
Palmer put the Blues ahead four minutes in, but it was ruled out for offside by VAR. Senegalese forward Jackson got the first goal of the game in the 18th minute to grab his sixth league goal of the season.
The Magpies drew level in the 32nd minute following a lovely build up with Isak restoring parity in the 32nd minute off a low cross from former Chelsea Academy graduate Lewis Hall.
The first half ended in a stalemate but two minutes into the second half, Palmer gave Chelsea the lead, with a strike which turned out to be the winning goal, his seventh goal in the league this season, to help the Blues move into fifth.
Elsewhere, a trip to the London stadium didn’t end as expected for Manchester United, who fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Ham United.
The wasteful Red devils failed to convert any of their numerous chances in the first half, hitting the crossbar on two occasions. They were, however, made to pay, as substitute Crysencio Summerville put the hosts in front in the 74th minute.
Although United drew level seven minutes later thanks to a close range header from Casemiro, the Hammers got back in front in the 92nd minute after Jarrod Bowen converted a controversial penalty that angered the United bench.
In another end of London, Tottenham Hotspur couldn’t find a goal as a 31st minute strike from Crystal Palace forward Jean Phillipe Mateta ended up being the winner at Selhurt Park.
