West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus has been charged by the Football Association for his violent conduct during their Premier League match against Tottenham on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
The Ghanaian forward, who opened the scoring, was sent off in the 86th minute in the Hammers’ 4-1 defeat, after an initial yellow card was changed to a red following a VAR review.
The initial yellow card was giving for kicking Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven, but the replay showed him push the Dutchman on the face after the foul and did the same to Senegalese midfielder Pepe Matar Sarr.
Both clubs have also been charged for failing to ensure their players “didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way” as at the time Kudus was sent off, while the 24-year-old is being charged for violent conduct after the foul he was sent off for.
If found guilty, Kudus could face an extra ban or punishment apart from his already standing three-game ban due to the nature of his sending off.
Meanwhile, all three parties involved – Kudus, West Ham and Tottenham – have till Thursday, October 24 to respond.
Barring any addition suspensions, Kudus will sit out the Hammer’s games against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Everton.
