Paris 2024: Tebogo, Fahnbulleh & two others to represent Africa in men’s 200m final

Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, Joseph Fahnbulleh of Liberia, and the Zimbabwean duo of Tapiwanashe Makarawu and Makanakaishe Charamba will all represent Africa in the men’s 200-metre final in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Tebogo ran a time of 19.96 seconds to win semifinal 2 in the men’s 200m on Wednesday, beating reigning men’s 100m Olympic champion Noah Lyles of the United States, who clocked a time of 20.08s to finish second. Charamba finished third in 20.31s.


In semifinal 3, Fahnbulleh finished second in 20.12s to finish behind American Erriyon Knighton, who clocked a time of 20.09s, while Makarawu came third in 20.16s.

Other finalists include Kenny Bednarek of the USA, who ran a time of 20.00s to win semifinal 1 and Dominican Republic’s Alex Ogando, who clocked 20.09s to finish in second.

The men’s 200m final is scheduled for Thursday, August 8 at 8:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. Nigerian time) at the Stade de France in Paris.
