The South Africa Sevens Rugby team clinched their second Olympic bronze medal after beating Australia 26-19 in the third/fourth place match on Saturday.
The Blitzboks, who won their first bronze at the inaugural rugby sevens event in 2026, were beaten 15-9 by hosts France earlier in the day but were not deterred against the Aussies despite going behind to Nathan Lawson’s try.
Selvyn Davids however responded with a try of his own for the South Africans before Zain Davids’ brace and a further try Shaun Williams sealed the victory.
