Nigeria’s Blessing Oborodudu will not get her hands on a medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics after suffering a shocking defeat in the bronze medal bout to world number 25, Japan’s Nonoka Ozaki, at the Champ-de-Mars Arena on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games and is ranked 6th in the world, lost 3-0 (victory on points) to the Japanese in the women’s freestyle wrestling 68kg category as Nigeria’s hunt for a first medal in Paris continues.

The 21-year-old Ozaki, a two-time gold medallist at the World Wrestling Championships, dominated the bout across the two halves, winning the first half by two technical points before registering the final point in the second half.
Ozaki’s victory takes Japan’s medal total in Paris to 29 including eleven golds, 6 silver and 12 bronze medals.
