The 27-year-old Nigerian is one of the favourites to get a medal in the event, but she will face a tough battle from reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, who ran a time of 12.42s, the fastest time in the heats, to progress to the semifinals.
Other contenders include Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, the reigning world champion, who clocked a time of 12.59s, America’s Masai Russell, the winner of Heat 3 with a time of 12.53s, and Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton.
