Morocco defeated the United States 4-0 on Friday afternoon to reach the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Atlas Lions topped their group ahead of Argentina, Ukraine and Iraq and did not lower their guard against the Americans with star forward Soufiane Rahimi giving them the lead from the penalty spot in the 29th minute.
It was the Al Ain forward’s fifth goal in Paris, taking him two goals clear of Marcelo Fernandez (Paraguay) and Fermin Lopez (Spain) in the top scorer charts.
Ilias Akhomach doubled their lead in the 63rd minute off an assist from Abde Ezzalzouli before captain and Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi netted his first goal of the tournament in the 70th minute.
El Mehdi Maouhoub had the final say from the penalty spot in added time.
