Egypt finished top of Group C in the men’s football event at the 2024 Paris Olympics after a 2-1 win over Spain on Tuesday.
Pyramids FC forward Ibrahim Abdel scored in either half for the Pharaohs while Samu Omorodion, who is of Nigeria heritage, scored the consolation goal for the Spaniards.
Egypt topped Group C with seven points ahead of Spain, the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan.

In Group B, Morocco bounced back from their 2-1 loss to 10-man Ukraine by defeating Iraq 3-0.
Amir Richardson put them in front followed by Soufiane Rahimi and Abde Ezzalzouli.
The Atlas Lions finished joint top with Argentina on six points and the same goal difference while Ukraine and Iraq finished third and fourth respectively with three points apiece.

Meanwhile, Guinea and Mali exited the group stage following their respective 3-0 and 1-0 losses to the United States and Paraguay.
The Guineans ended bottom in Group A behind hosts France, the Americans and New Zealand, with no points at all.

The Malians finished third in Group D with one point behind Japan, the Paraguayans and ahead of Israel.
The quarter-finals will see Egypt take on Paraguay while Morocco will face the United States.
