Giannis Antetokounmpo has been selected by the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) as the flag bearer for Greece at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris alongside race walking legend Antigoni Drisbioti.
The 29-year-old Milwaukee Bucks star will be making his debut at the games after guiding Greece to the the competition with an 80-69 win over Croatia in the final of the qualifiers.
It will be Greece’s first appearance at the Olympics since the 2008 event in Beijing where they reached the quarter-finals but lost to Argentina.
“The Plenary of the Greek Olympic Committee has decided that the Flag Bearers for Greece at the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics will be Giannis Antetokounmpo and Antigoni Drisbioti,” read a statement on the HOC Instagram page.
“The decision on Antetokounmpo was unanimous while the champion of the round was chosen after a vote between four athletes, Maria Sakkari, Antigoni Drisbioti, Evangelia Plataniotis and Margarita Pleritou.”

Greece have been drawn in Group A at the Paris Olympics and will go up against Canada, Australia and Spain.
