‘Osimhen will be good for us’ – Al-Hilal Chief Executive Calzada

Al-Hilal chief executive Esteve Calzada says Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen will be a good addition to the team, Afrosport reports.

The Saudi Pro League giants have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old who spent time on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli last season and scored a record 37 goals in 41 competitive appearances.

It has led to Osimhen being heavily linked with a number of top European clubs but Al-Hilal are also interested and have already seen a bid rejected for the former Lille man.

There are reports the Riyadh outfit are not giving up in their pursuit and are ready to make a fresh offer.

While Calzada did not confirm if the reports of Al-Hilal’s interest was true, he did assert that Osimhen is the right profile for the club.

“I cannot confirm nor deny that we’ve been interested in him [Osimhen],” he told BBC Sport.

“He’s a big player, it fits the profile of player that we think would be good for Al-Hilal, just like many others. We’re not refraining from contacting players because we feel they would say no to us.

“The names we are linked with demonstrate the ambition of the club. We believe that we are in a position to pitch [to] any players nowadays.”

Calzada added: “We are targeting the biggest players. We are very ambitious, but we need to see hunger from the player himself and the transaction needs to work out both ways.

“The only thing we’ve been trying to remind players and agents is that yes, we are from Saudi, but we don’t print notes here!

“My role as CEO is to make sure we run the club efficiently, so that we can have the biggest budget possible to have big players, but not at any cost.

“That’s why sometimes we basically walk away from negotiations, because we still want players extremely keen on coming, and not only looking for the money.”

Al-Hilal are under the watch of Simone Inzaghi who joined the team after Inter Milan’s heavy 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final last month.

His first official game is against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup in Miami Gardens on Wednesday.
