Following their outstanding performances in Serie A, the Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have been nominated for the Player of the Month award for January.
Osimhen and Lookman are the two leading scorers in the Italian top flight, with the latter on 12 goals from 19 games, two behind his compatriot Osimhen, who has 14 goals in 16 appearances.
The duo have been nominated for the award three times this season but will now have to battle Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, Roma’s Paulo Dybala, and Lazio’s Luis Alberto for the honour.

Osimhen’s goalscoring form has been second to none in Serie A, as he bagged five goals and an assist in five league matches in January.
The 24-year-old found the back of the net in all but one game, with goals against AS Roma, Salernitana, Sampdoria, and an impressive brace in a 5-1 mauling of Juventus at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium
Lookman was an unused substitute in Atalanta’s 2-1 win over Bologna, but the 25-year-old bettered Osimhen’s tally for the month, with five goals and got two assists in four games.
He was unable to register a goal against Spezia, but he got a brace against Salernitana and Juventus and a sublime solo effort against Sampdoria over the weekend.
Lookman will hope to beat his countryman to his first Serie A player of the month award after Osimhen won the award in March 2022.
