Former Napoli player Roberto Sosa says Victor Osimhen will regret if he decides to leave the club at the end of the season.
The Nigerian forward has been in the headlines over a now-deleted video on the club’s TikTok account that mocked him for his penalty miss against Bologna last weekend.
It has drawn global outrage with suggestions Osimhen could leave the club at the end of the season when he will have just one year left on his contract.
Osimhen has remained solid despite the attention on him, scoring in subsequent games against Udinese and Lecce. Sosa however took offence in Osimhen not celebrating his goal against Lecce, stressing it was not a pleasing sight in front of the travelling supporters, also referencing the fans admiration for the late and legendary Diego Maradona whom Osimhen is often compared to.
“I would like to go to Castel Volturno and talk to him. I hope Osimhen stays, but if he leaves in six months he will regret it. Sosa told Campania regional channel Tele A. “He is scoring a goal without celebrating [in front of the fans]. He won’t be able to come back [if he leaves Napoli].
“This club was chosen by Diego [Maradona] for the fans like Boca Juniors and Gimnasia [de la Plata]. They don’t deserve this [a goalless celebration]. The goal is the best thing. I am very sorry that Osimhen has chosen to be sad.”

Paolo Condo, an Italian journalist, was also incensed by accusation of racism by Napoli towards Osimhen and believes all this will be put to bed if the Nigerian speaks.
“Accusing the Neapolitans of racism is like accusing the Vatican of Satanism,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“These things have also been said. Probably one word from him, from Osimhen I mean, could put an end to these discussions.”
Osimhen has gotten the attention of the Nigerian government, with the sports minister John Enoh, keen to look into the matter, confirming contact with the Nigerian Foreign Affairs ministry and the Nigerian ambassador to Italy.
