The hopes of Victor Osimhen joining Chelsea this summer has taken a different turn with the Blues now interested in signing Atletico Madrid youngster Samu Omorodion, Afrosport reports.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
New Napoli manager Antonio Conte is a big admirer of Lukaku having utilised the Belgian forward of Congolese heritage during his successful stint at Inter Milan.
Osimhen is yet to feature for Napoli in pre-season, further fueling speculation of his future away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Any plan of travelling to West London has been hindered by Chelsea’s reported interest of rising Spanish forward Samu Omorodion.
According to Football Italia, the 20-year-old, who is of Nigerian heritage, can be available for €35 million which Chelsea will have no problem meeting and will continue their trend of signing players under the age of 23 under Todd Boehly’s ownership.
Aside Chelsea, Osimhen has drawn interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. However, his asking price of €100 million and above remains an obstacle.
