Onana: Man United boss Ten Hag refuses to blame Cameroon goalkeeper in Galatasaray draw

Erik ten Hag has refused to blame Andre Onana despite making some errors that led to Manchester United squandering a two-goal margin lead against Galatasaray in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League Group A encounter.

The Red Devils had taken a 3-1 lead after 55 minutes but collapsed in the space of eight minutes that allowed Galatasaray to equalise as the game ultimately ended 3-3.

Onana was seen as the culprit of the two goals, with his positioning and handling questioned. Ten Hag however stated that it is not about individual errors but the team as a whole.

“He is OK. As I said, it is not about individuals,” the former Ajax manager said after the game.

“Of course, individual errors in football can make a difference and you take responsibility for it but it is always about the team.

“This team is good, all the players in the squad are good and deserve the best to play for Manchester United because they are brilliant players. And that counts for the whole squad.”

United currently sit bottom of Group A and will need to defeat Bayern in their final game while hoping Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen draw.
