NWFL: What to know about 2023-24 season & how to watch matches on your phone

The 2023-24 Nigeria Women Football League will begin on Tuesday, November 14 with 16 teams vying for the league title.

Delta Queens are reigning champions after clinching the 2022-23 title in June on home ground in Asaba and will begin their defence against newly-promoted Ekiti Queens in Ado-Ekiti.

The new season comes with an unprecedented live broadcast of the Nigeria women’s league game on television.

How many teams will participate in the 2023-24 season?

The 16 clubs have been pitched into two groups consisting of eight teams each.

The participating teams will play one another in a home and away format and the top teams advance for the end-of-season playoffs tournament.

Group A: Confluence Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Naija Ratels, Abia Angels, Dannaz Ladies, Royal Queens, Adamawa Queens and Heartland Queens.

Group B: Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, FC Robo, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Sunshine Queens, Lakeside/Remo Queens and Ekiti Queens.

 

Where can I watch the NWFL matches?

Afrosport TV, Africa’s first continental Free-to-Air (FTA) sports channel will be showing at least one NWFL game on a match day.

You can watch the LIVE matches (starting from November 14 – Ekiti Queens vs Delta Queens) on Afrosport TV, channel 730 on Free TV or stream for FREE via VIDIVU TV.
