French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille have held talks with Arsenal to sign Ethan Nwaneri on loan for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, Afrosport reports.

According to BBC Sport, discussions are ongoing with the loan fee being worked on at the moment.

The 18-year-old English midfielder of Nigerian heritage was initially seen as a part of the Gunners squad challenging for titles this season, however the desire for regular game time has become the main objective for him.

Nwaneri has only played 12 times in all competitions this season, starting just four of them, none in the Premier League, scoring once.

This is in contrast to the previous season where he made 37 competitive appearances, 26 of them in the Premier League, scoring a total of nine goals and providing two assists.

This prompted Nwaneri to sign a contract extension until 2030, however the summer arrival of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze from Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively has seen him go further down the pecking order.
