Morufat Folarin grabbed headlines at the ongoing 2022 National Sports Festival after winning three gold medals in weightlifting for host state Delta on Monday evening.
She won gold in the women’s 55kg snatch ahead of Christiana Ollorina of Rivers State and Blessing Andrew of Kwara State. In the Clean and Jerk 73kg category, Folarin took her second gold while Ollorina took another another silver while Olarinoye Florence of Lagos State won bronze.
Folarin moved higher up the categories and won her third gold in the 131kg event.
Anambra State picked up gold in the F57 women’s shot put event in Para-Athletics thanks to Njideka Iyiazi. Njideka went on to claim silver in Javelin (F57) while Esther Ezerioha also claimed silver in Javelin (F44).
Temitope Olasupo won gold in Para-Swimming 50m Breaststroke men’s category for Oyo State while Ikechukwu Omenogor added to the state’s medal tally with silver in javelin (F57) event. Kazeem Oseni also won two bronze medals in the 155kg Para-Powerlifting
Lovelyn Obiji won gold for Imo State in Para-Powerlifting while Favour Okehie and Uzoma Njoku also won gold in darts 701 mixed doubles. Jessica Mbaegwu added bronze in Para-Table Tennis.
Judith Usifoh claimed gold for Edo State in Taekwondo women’s welterweight category while Prosper Alegu won bronze in the Finweight men’s category likewise Sanni Zaimat in the women’s category. Prior Ochonogor claimed gold in the men’s 400m hurdles.
