Delta State, Hosts of the 2022 National Sports Festival, have shown a strong start to the games, claiming gold medals in cycling on Thursday.
These medals came in the 1km Time Trials of the male and female categories. Bayelsa State and Edo State took home the silver medal in the men’s category while Oyo State claimed both the silver and bronze in the female category.
Delta’s medal tally has now risen to four out of five medals being contested.
Cycling will continue on Friday, with events in the 200 metres and 500 metres sprints for the male and female categories.
Other events to take place on Friday include Basketball, Handball, Squash, Boxing, Cricket, Mixed Martial Arts, Gymnastics among other sports. There is are also some Para-sports lined up which include Deaf Table Tennis, Para-Table Tennis and Para-Powerlifting.
