NPFL: Sodiq Ismail set to leave Remo Stars for FK Partizani in Albania

Nigerian defender Sodiq Ismail is on the verge of joining Albanian club FK Partizani from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Remo Stars, Afrosport reports.

Reports have it that the defender will sign a three-year-deal with Partizani once medical formalities are completed.

The versatile defender earned a call up to the Super Eagles in 2024 ahead of World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, under former head coach Finidi George.

He has a goal and three assists to his name for Remo Stars in the ongoing season.

Ismail scored Nigeria’s first goal in the 3-1 win against Ghana in the final qualifying fixture for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Full-back who played in the two legged CHAN qualifiers will no longer be eligible to represent Nigeria at the CHAN tournament in February in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The CHAN tournament is specially designed for players plying their trade in African leagues.

FK Partizani are second on the log in the Albanian SuperLiga on 33 points, one behind leaders Dinamo Tirana.
