Ismail Sodiq and Jide Fatokun were on target as Remo Stars began their 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a 2-0 win away at Abia Warriors on match day one in Umuahia, Afrosport reports.
Sodiq got the Sky Blue Stars underway with a cool finish in the 48th minute, while Fatokun added the icing on the cake in the 61st minute with a beautiful header.
At the Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri, Emmanuel Amunike’s Heartland FC were beaten 3-1 at home by oriental rivals Enyimba on their return to the top flight.
Despite scoring first through Suraju Lawal, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele’s effort and Clinton Jephta’s brace, condemned the Naze millionaires to defeat in front of their home fans.
Elsewhere, Kwara United lost 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes at home, while Sunshine Stars thrashed Bayelsa United 3-0.

In other games, Rivers United forced Bendel Insurance to a 0-0 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Plateau United pipped Katsina United 1-0, Kano Pillars thrashed newly-promoted Ikorodu City 3-0, while Shooting Stars drew 0-0 with Nasarawa United in Lafia.
