Organisers of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) have announced a change of date and venue for the match between Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United, Afrosport reports.
Originally scheduled to take place on Sunday in Minna, the fixture will now be played at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Wednesday, 27 August, 2025.
The shift comes after the Minna Township Stadium failed to meet the infrastructure requirements stipulated in the NPFL Club Licensing Regulations. As a result, Tornadoes must nominate an alternative, league-approved stadium for their home games going forward.
Meanwhile, other NPFL opening weekend fixtures will go ahead as planned. The 2025-2026 season will officially kick off on Friday with defending champions Remo Stars hosting Rivers United at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
The remaining matches will be played on Sunday, with Kwara United facing Ikorodu City, and Abia Warriors locking horns with Kano Pillars. Wikki Tourists will battle Plateau United, Enugu Rangers host Kun Khalifat FC, and Katsina United take on Warri Wolves.
Elsewhere, El Kanemi Warriors clash with Bendel Insurance, Shooting Stars meet Bayelsa United, and Barau FC will round off the opening weekend by welcoming Enyimba.
