Remo Stars came from behind to beat Akwa United 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Sunday in a match-day 20 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game, Afrosport reports.
The hosts went ahead in the ninth minute through debutant Uche Sebastine.
On his debut, the striker positioned himself properly and received a pass from Chijoke Alakwe before slotting home from close range.
The Promise keepers took the lead into the second-half, and had other opportunities to increase the tally, but were profligate.
Remo Stars got back into the game with 17 minutes left to play when substitute Samuel Anakwe drew them level.
Energetic midfielder, Olamilekan Adedayo then had the final say with five minutes left on the clock, to give the Daniel Ogunmodede’s side maximum points.
Victory at the Nest of Champions, the first ever for Remo Stars, took them to 39 points, five clear of Rivers United in second place.
Elsewhere, John Bassey’s solitary effort in the 57th minute propelled Heartland to a 1-0 win at the expense of Lobi Stars at the Dan Anyiam stadium.
Plateau United also defeated Rivers United 2-1, courtesy goals from Olawale Doyeni and Emmanuel Ihezuo.
Doyeni put Plateau United ahead in the 21st minute, but Finidi George’s Rivers United almost snatched a point when Ndifreke Effiong netted the equaliser with three minutes left on the clock.

Ihezuo then ensured that maximum points were secured when he scored the winning goal in the fourth minute of added time.
