NPFL: Remo stars go eight points clear with win over Enyimba

Remo Stars defeated Enyimba 2-0 in Ikenne on Thursday to keep the momentum for a first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, Afrosport reports.

The Sky Blue Stars went ahead through Olamilekan Adedayo in the 28th minute. The midfielder side-footed into the net after Ahmed Akinyele brilliantly skipped past two Enyimba defenders.

Victory was sealed in the 68th minute when substitute Samson Olasupo slammed home with his first touch off a superb run by Olamilekan Adedayo.

Leaders Remo Stars have now hit the 60-point mark, eight more than second-placed Rivers United.

Meanwhile, at the Nnamdi stadium, Suleimon Mojereola’s solitary effort propelled Plateau United to a 1-0 win against Enugu Rangers, dealing a blow to the Flying Antelopes’ title defence.

Elsewhere, Akwa United moved out of the relegation zone after a 2-0 win over Niger Tornadoes in Uyo, courtesy goals from Felix Oloye and Abson Mare, while Shooting Stars surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.
