Lobi Stars returned to winning ways after defeating Kwara United 1-0 on Saturday at the Lafia City stadium in a matchday 15 encounter in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Afrosport reports.
Peter Onah netted the only goal of the game in the 26th minute when he collected a well-crafted pass from Ifeanyi Assurance, before firing past Kwara United’s goalkeeper.
The goal sealed victory and maximum points were garnered as the Alia Boys zoomed out of the relegation waters to 16th on the log, and also ended their four-game winless streak.
In the other game on Saturday, Bendel Insurance defeated Plateau United 2-1 at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City.
Uche Collins shot the Benin Arsenals ahead in the seventh minute, but Victor Dawa restored parity for the visitors in the 24th minute.
Kayode Oke’s 66th minute strike eventually sealed victory for Insurance who remain at the bottom of the table despite the hard-fought win.
